Injection Molder

1. Overview

The HAAKE MiniJet Pro is a compact piston-based micro injection molding system designed for producing high-quality polymer test specimens from only a few grams of material. It supports rapid heating/cooling and precise molding control to accelerate formulation screening before scale-up. Sample preparation for mechanical testing, optical testing and rheometry

Features:

  • Requires only 2 to 12.5 mL of material
  • Test specimens produced from powders, pellets or direct melt transfer
  • Processing parameters: temperature, injection pressure, duration

2. Key Capabilities

  • Processes very small material quantities (~2–5 g)
  • Fast thermal cycling for quick trial-and-error studies
  • Precise control of temperature, injection pressure, holding pressure, and time
  • Produces dog-bone tensile bars, discs, and custom shapes for mechanical/thermal analysis
  • Compatible with most thermoplastics, blends, additives, and masterbatches

3. Typical Applications

  • R&D screening of polymers, composites, and blends
  • Preparing molded specimens for tensile, flexural, impact, DMA, DSC, TGA
  • Studying color stability, degradation, and processability under molding conditions
  • Integrated workflow with HAAKE MiniCTW or other micro-compounders

4. Operating Notes

  • Dry moisture-sensitive polymers (e.g., nylon, TPU, PET) before molding
  • Set proper barrel/nozzle/mold temperatures according to polymer requirements
  • Optimize injection pressure, holding pressure, and time to avoid short shots or flashing
  • Clean the barrel between materials to prevent contamination
