Viscometer

The Viscostar III detector from Wyatt Technology is an on-line differential viscometer that can be coupled with the miniDAWN™ TREOS three-angle light scattering detectors for measurements of intrinsic viscosity in conjunction with SEC-MALS and SEC-MALS-IV, on order to characterize the molar mass, size, conformation and branching ratio of biopolymers, synthetic polymers, proteins and peptides.

The ViscoStar III has a temperature control ranging between 4°C and 70°C, and can operate at the same temperature as the GPC  separation (both above or below ambient).

Key Features:

  • Minimum Quantifiable Sample: 0.1 µg of 100 kDa polystyrene in THF
  • Dynamic Range: 135,000:1
  • Differential Pressure Range: 6.9kPa
  • Differential Pressure Sensitivity: 0.05Pa
  • Drift: <2.5Pa/hour
  • The ViscoStar III incorporates automated thermal bridge tuning to ensure perfect bridge balance every run, a patented pump pulse suppression system that eliminates pressure fluctuations due to the pump without loss of chromatographic resolution, and dual-Peltier thermal control for optimal isolation of the temperature-sensitive bridge from room temperature variations.
